Un Sueño
My aesthetic sensibility is a rich mix of cultures. My identity is a rich blend, too. I was not always comfortable stepping into myself, as it were, as an Ecuadorian American. As a designer, I discovered that, in fact, my intercultural background represents a rich tapestry from which I can draw inspiration, and enriches my identity for who I am. It is the wide lens through which I perceive the world. Un sueño (One Dream) is a gift, not given but found within oneself, a gift that takes courage to access; safe keeping and dedication to maintain. It is designed to help Latin American dreamers to recognize and embrace their cultural heritage within the context of American culture, and to step into themselves, as I did, to become who they want to be. It is not always easy; the challenges can be significant. But the rewards, as I discovered, are cherishable.
